Climategate Debate On Radio 4 Today Prog at Last
20 Scientists Driving Climate Alarmism not Thousands
This morning climategate was debated on Radio 4's primetime 8.15am slot, with Prof Phil Stott and Jonathan Porritt getting the interrogation from John Humphreys.
Prof Stott did a superb job of laying out the facts about the scientific process which has led up to climategate: ABD climate expert Paul Biggs said:
“It's ironic that the first proper climate change debate allowed by the BBC has a Professor of BioGeography on the sceptical side and a former Friends of the Earth campaigner to defend the alarmist perspective. This tells the listener all they need to know about the reality of the debate as opposed to the spin put on matters by the alarmists.”
In Prof Stott's own words (Wikipedia):
“... the global warming myth harks back to a lost Golden Age of climate stability, or, to employ a more modern term, climate 'sustainability'. Sadly, the idea of a sustainable climate is an oxymoron. The fact that we have rediscovered climate change at the turn of the Millennium tells us more about ourselves, and about our devices and desires, than about climate. Opponents of global warming are often snidely referred to as 'climate change deniers'; precisely the opposite is true. Those who question the myth of global warming are passionate believers in climate change — it is the global warmers who deny that climate change is the norm.”
Biggs continued: “Historic climate stability is fundamental to the warmist case because it makes the circumstantial link between CO2 and warming more credible and allows the computer models to be programmed to produce alarmist scenarios. Thats why the Hockey Stick graph produced by Michael Mann of Pennsylvania University showing a thousand years of stable temperatures is so important to them - and Mann is thoroughly implicated in the climategate e-mails for witholding the data used to produce his graph.”
Email: Michael Mann to Tim Osborn, CRU, July 2003:
"Attached are the calibration residual series for experiments based on available networks back to: AD 1000, AD 1400, AD 1600... You only want to look at the first column (year) and second column (residual) of the files. I can't even remember what the other columns are!
p.s. I know I probably don't need to mention this, but just to insure absolutely clarify on this, I'm providing these for your own personal use, since you're a trusted colleague. So please don't pass this along to others without checking w/ me first. This is the sort of "dirty laundry" one doesn't want to fall into the hands of those who might potentially try to distort things..."
ABD Policy Advisor Nigel Humphries added:
“The whole global warming circus is unravelling. Even Porritt was forced to admit that specialist climate scientists were among the dissenters — something which the alarmists have relentlessly covered up.”
