“The completion of this motorway will prove to be a great boost for jobs and tourism, not just in Glasgow, but far to the west. The time and distance saving provided by the new route means that it will become the route of choice for traffic between England and all points west of Glasgow, on both sides of the Clyde. This in turn means that traffic on the M8 through Glasgow will reduce.”ABD Chairman Brian Gregory said:
“I am delighted to see Glasgow at long last join London, Birmingham, and Manchester in the list of British cities ringed by a motorway. This project is recognition that motorways are an essential part of our transport infrastructure, and will remain so for many generations. It is, however, regrettable that it has taken so long to complete this motorway. We must stop allowing our economy and quality of life to be compromised by incessant pandering to environmental fanaticism.”
